combining the benefits of promoting First Aid training in the community with financial support for community organisations.

Any community organisation (e.g. school, childcare, sport club, church, non-profit organisation) can become a beneficiary of the Breathing Life into the Community programme. This means that this organisation receives $30 for every person who completes a Comprehensive Workplace or Childcare Workplace First Aid Course and $20 for every person who completes a Recertification Course and nominates the organisation.

Commercial organisations can join the programme and use the funding to create scholarships or grants for community benefiting projects or organisations.

Testimonial

Doing a First Aid course at school for our school staff (both teaching and auxiliary) was fantastic. The location was familiar and comfortable (the staff room) and made it possible for all staff to attend. The fact that everyone knew each other meant the course promoted team building and because it was personalised to suit our school environment the scenarios were meaningful and memorable. Now everyone within the work environment is on the same wave length regarding recent changes in First Aid techniques.
The course was very cost efficient; not only because the course fee was lower than that of other providers and taught in one day but also because we joined the Breathing Life into the Community programme, which meant that a percentage of the course fee went back into our school's resources. Now we are promoting First Aid courses to our pupils' parents. There is lot of interest and from the nominations we will be able to purchase new music instruments and science materials.
