Student Information & Terms and Conditions

This page contains some general student information and our terms and conditions. Please read these prior to attending one of our courses.

Student Information

Course Participation

You need to attend the full course to become certified. Please make sure you arrive on time for your course. If you are late you may not be able to attend the course and have to reschedule. If you are late due to exceptional circumstances, you may be allowed to join the class providing the instructor has time work through the course component you missed at a later time.

Physical Requirements

All First Aid courses have practical components and involve group participation. As part of the assessment you will be required to demonstrate to the instructor that you are physically able to perform First Aid skills, including cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the floor sufficiently long so that your instructor can assess competency.

If you have any medical condition or disability that may affect your ability to perform these tasks please contact us prior to the course to discuss this.

Language Requirements

Participants are required to have an acceptable level of spoken English.  A translator may be used, with prior consent of the instructor, when a participant is not a confident English language speaker.  In such a case the participant will be required to meet all the assessment criteria by demonstrating all the skills learnt during the course.

Clothing

We recommend that you wear comfortable, casual clothing as the practical components of the course require you to kneel on the floor.

Common Courtesy

We expect everybody on our premises, or during our courses at other locations, to use common courtesy and respectful behaviour towards others. Particularly, we do not accept sexual/racial harassment and/or discrimination. If you feel that you have been discriminated against or harassed by anybody please inform your instructor or somebody else at MediTrain Waikato.

Telephone Calls and Text Messages

Students are asked to turn their cell phones off during class time unless it is a matter of urgency. Please do not check or send text messages during class time.

Smoking

MediTrain Waikato is a smoke-free environment and students are not allowed to smoke on our premises.
